What we do

COAST Clubhouse is a monthly magazine and daily website which aims to encourage and reward junior sport on the Gold Coast.

EVERY weekend upwards of 30,000 Gold Coast children between the ages of 8 and 16 participate in some form of organised sport. Among them are the sports stars of the next decade.

THEIR efforts, and the massive input of their coaches, parents, relatives and volunteer support organisations, go largely unrecognised. We aim to give all of them a fair go.

THE Coast Clubhouse team is a mix of professional sports journalists and people who just care about out community and our kids. We are all long-time Gold Coast residents. Our children have grown up through the Gold Coast clubs and various junior sport organisations and we know what makes our community special.

ONE of the platforms upon which Coast Clubhouse will be built will be a sponsored annual Best and Fairest award. This is a competition aimed at recognising and rewarding the finest young sporting talent on the Coast.

SPORTING clubs and junior and senior schools are invited on a monthly basis to submit the names and achievements of their most outstanding young sports people. Six will be identified every month by an independent panel and one of the six will be chosen to advance to the final which will be judged after 11 months.

THE winner’s name will be announced at a formal, end of competition dinner attended by the 11 finalists and their parents and mentors. The winner will become the Gold Coast’s Best and Fairest sports person of the year and will be rewarded with a valuable and memorable prize which will reflect their dedication and their achievement.

WE will also consider in the future making Coast Clubhouse available on a subscription basis. Twenty percent of monies raised through annual subscriptions will be placed in The Clubhouse Foundation which will be an audited and independently administered trust dedicated to providing funding for worthy causes within the junior sporting community.

 TO make Coast Clubhouse and the website a success and a force in the sporting community we need the help of sports clubs, schools and sporting governing bodies along with the input of parents and coaches.

THIS is a community-driven publication and your participation will be essential to its future growth. We will cover all sport from grassroots to state and national level, your contributions will be invaluable in helping us to touch all the bases.
